Happy 6th Birthday Kayleigh!
Kayleigh
decided she wanted an Ice Cream Parlour birthday party for her 6th
birthday. Since her party is at the beginning of summer, I figured- summer +
ice cream= perfect! So I set to work
looking over inspiration boards on Pinterest and shopping at my local Christmas
Tree Shops, Walmart, Target, Micheal’s, JoAnn Fabric’s, Oriental Trading
Company, and wherever else my fancy took me.
The
hardest thing to do was choose a color palette because there are so many pretty
color combinations but I did not want to make it too complicated. So I settled
on a light pink, white, and lavender color scheme and had found these adorable
little ceramic ice cream cone cups and bowls in various pastel shades of pink,
blue, green, and yellow at Christmas Tree Shops for only $1.99 each, how could
I go wrong? These I would use as favors and to hold the toppings in. I also found pastel colored mini cake stands
and white cups, again only $1.99 each. I
have a lot of white wire baskets and thought that the tiered one would be great
to display the cones.
I
purchased the tableware, water bottle labels, and mini chalkboards from
Oriental Trading Co., the glass candy jars, paper ice cream cups, and cookie cutters from Christmas
Tree Shops, and the fabric from JoAnn’s Fabric. The invitations were done
through Shutterfly with photos that I took of the birthday girl (actually at Easter
time in her pretty dress! Such an overachiever- I know, I know)! I love
Shutterfly- I can’t say enough about their products. I take so many pictures of
my favorite subject – Kayleigh- and I like to journal about her experiences
that it allows me to do both and have a beautiful keepsake to look back upon
forever. Their products are amazing.
But I digress….. I decided to
have a make your own ice cream sundae bar with toppings set out for the kids. I went looking in clearance bins and came
across wooden letters for 28 cents each and a light pink foam board. I bought
white spray paint and clear glitter spray paint, a sherbet striped spool of
ribbon, and armed with my glue gun, I created the sign to be used at the little
ice cream stand. I found the idea for
the cutest ice cream cake mycakeschool.com.
Of
course, hers came out so much cuter but hey, mine was pretty cute too! I made three "cakes" and the cake boards were wrapped with colored tissue paper as a pretty presentation. Another positive- it
was really easy to dish out after the candles were blown out.
Here
are some more pics from the party! A big thanks to Liz who helped come over and
set up early!

Overall, the day was sunny and warm, the kids had a blast and Kayleigh had a great day!
I cannot believe how fast she is growing up! Don't forget to check me out on Pinterest too!
Enjoy and Happy Planning!
Happy 6th Birthday my Angel!
Love,
Your Mumma
